Golf Maintenance Update

February 14

It’s been quite a week of weather here at Salisbury Golf Course. Unfortunately, the storm that rolled through this weekend didn’t bring the expected snowfall. Instead, we were hit with destructive ice. The weight of the ice on the tree branches has caused significant damage, and there’s a lot of cleanup ahead.

The worst of the damage was concentrated on the Monacan nine. Large trees fell on holes two, six, and seven and another fell into the pond on Buckingham eight. While cleanup efforts have already begun, work is still ongoing in some areas.

Additionally, members will notice that a few ornamental trees around the pro shop and cart barn have been lost. Several trees near the short game area also lost some branches.

With all the snow, ice, rain, and sleet this week, the course is still very saturated. Unfortunately, with cold temperatures and more rain on the way, it’s expected that the course will remain wet for the foreseeable future. Cleanup efforts will continue for a few more days, and we’ll keep working hard to restore everything. Looking ahead, we’re also expecting snow next week. But as always, our team will do everything possible to bring the course back to its usual excellent condition.
