General Manager Update

February 14, 2025

Friday, February 14, 2025
Dear ${member.full_name},
I would like to thank membership for their patience as the Club felt the effects of Tuesday's inclement weather. Our power returned late on Wednesday and we are currently operational.
Weekend Activities
Salisbury is prepped for an eventful weekend. Tonight, we will serve over 100 meals at our annual Valentine's Dinner, which comes complete with music from the Lawrence Olds Jazz Trio starting at 5:45 PM. The fun continues on Saturday as memories are made at our annual Father/Daughter dance, Ties & Tiaras, with over 100 members set to attend.

Please note Grill 63 and the Cedar Lounge will be closed at 4:00 PM on Friday, February 14 to accommodate our Valentine's Dinner event. The Tap Room will remain open and serving a limited lunch menu. Please note the Cedar Lounge will be closed on Saturday, February 15 to accommodate our Ties & Tiaras Event. Grill 63 and the Tap Room are unaffected by this closure.
Super Bowl Short Game
Our members had a much better time than the Chiefs this past Sunday at our first Super Bowl Short Game Shoot-Out. The creative event had members repping their favorite teams and competing on the practice greens in a series of golf challenges. See pictures of the event below.
Golf Maintenance Update
The storm this week didn't bring expected snowfall, instead we were hit with destructive ice. The weight of the ice on the tree branches caused significant damage, the worst of which was concentrated on the Monancan Nine. Large trees fell on holes 2, 6 and 7. Another tree fell into the pond on Buckingham 8. Additional damage was seen on trees near the short-game area, the Pro Shop and the Cart Barn. See pictures below. While clean-up effort has been swift, work is still ongoing, especially as the cold, wet conditions continue and our team braces for another severe winter storm. As always, we're set to do everything possible to bring the course back to its excellent conditions, but we remain grateful for member's patience as we perform necessary maintenance.

Upcoming Events
Event Highlight: Men's Tennis Member/Member
There is one day left to register for our largest tennis tournament of the winter, the Men's Member/Member! This event features four days of intense play between multiple divisions from February 18 - 21. But the fun is not limited to tennis - food, drink and socialization are also included. No partner, no problem - let the Pros know and they'll get you paired up. Please register on the Club Calendar by February 15.
Event Highlight: Psychic Michael Gutenplan
The Commonwealth Club has graciously invited our membership to join their event on Friday, February 21, featuring the renowned psychic Michael Gutenplan. Flying in direct from Hollywood, Gutenplan will provide an evening of unforgettable entertainment as he captivates audiences with his mind-reading abilities and mesmerizing performance. See a preview of the performance here. Along with the show, this event will include a heavy hors d'oeuvres reception with beer and wine for $110 (including tax & tip) per person. Please register on the Club Calendar, or app, by 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18. The event will be held at the Commonwealth Club and will be charged back to your Salisbury account. This is a great way to experience one of Richmond's finest City Clubs.
