General Manager's Update

January 17

Friday, January 17, 2025
Dear ${member.full_name},
Winter is fully upon us as we prepare for our third snowstorm of the season this Sunday and Monday. I hope everyone is staying safe and warm. We'll continue to keep you updated through email, and our website, for any changes to operating hours.
Operations Update
Please note the Cedar Lounge will be closed Saturday, January 18 to accommodate SSMA's Winter Dance. Grill 63 and the Tap Room are unaffected by this closure. For questions regarding operations, please call the Club at 804-794-6841.
Events Team Recognized
Team Salisbury was recognized nationally by the Virginia Chapter of the Club Managers' Association of America for their outstanding Community Outreach efforts organizing and developing our Restaurant Week event with other area Clubs. Read more about this accomplishment in the article linked here. This nationally recognized event returns to Salisbury this March 19 - March 22. Stay tuned to emails for full details as the event approaches.
Ladies' Member/Guest Tennis Tournament
Team Salisbury is excited for our first tennis tournament of the season - the 2025 SWAT Member/Guest Tennis Tournament this upcoming Wednesday, January 22 - Friday, January 24. Stay tuned as we announce the winners via email. Our next competition, the Men's Member/Member Tennis Tournament on February 18 - February 21 is currently open for registration on the Club Calendar.
Golf Course Snow
The golf course will remain closed through the weekend, with snow remaining on most of our greens. The driving range will be open. As a reminder, we ask that you stay off of the course during snowy conditions. While it may seem harmless to enjoy some fun in the snow, these activities can have significant impacts on course health and playability come spring. Walking or playing on snow-covered areas can compact the snow, leading to ice formation that deprives the grass of oxygen and promotes diseases like snow mold. Moreover, frozen grass blades are fragile and can easily break, causing damage that may take months to recover. Your cooperation is vital in maintaining a healthy and thriving course for the upcoming season.
Golf Maintenance Update
The winter weather has our team working diligently, from spreading ice melt across parking lots, sidewalks and stairs to performing clean-up on the course from fallen branches and trees. In addition to the cleanup efforts, some crew members have been working indoors, performing regular maintenance on the course markings; extending their life and ultimately saving the Club money.

Despite initial delays from the weather, our contractors continues to make progress on the Huguenot project. Crane trucks were on site and able to drop in the new pumps for Huguenot. They also installed new upgraded control panels on the irrigation boxes for both the Monacan and Buckingham courses, ensuring everything operates homogeneously with the new system.
